Countdown For CWG Delhi Begins

With just 14 days left for the CWG 2010 Delhi will be called Open, CWG faces the challenges which we Indians have to respond to unitedly. First of all, Indian Cricket Team refused to participate in the games. Then, the irregularities in the accounts and corruption involvedin CWG Delhi came into the lime-light. Few days ago Haryanvi Jats threatened to disrupt the Queen's Baton Relay when it arrives the state.
Now, comes the case of firing on Foriegn Tourists who had arrived New Delhi on Saturday Night to shoot for a Television Program. Whosoever is behind this attack but it puts a question mark on the Security arrangements of Foriegn Tourists who visit New Delhi For CWG. Clearly it does not send a good signal to the International Community.
India is hosting a grand event nearly after 3 decades and our pride is at stake and we cant let our enemies beat us.

Media: The Meek Spectator

Electronic Media: The Fastest mode of communication, the most efficient, the most reliable and the most viewed. Media-men keep us updated to all the happenings across the world, capturing every moment in the multi pixel high resolution cameras. Even capturing those moments which give goose-bumps to us, shake our hearts and souls. These cameramen and media-men get so busy with their work that sometimes they even forget “Humanity”. They forget they have some moral and social responsibilities too. Rather they act as mute spectators to what happens around them. I’m not targeting them under attack nor do I have any enmity with rather I question the integrity and duties of those who cry for human rights, question others’ dignity, lambast many personalities and what not.
Today, A known News channel aired a video showing an innocent man being beaten up brutally by a bunch of hypocrite policemen and media-men moving around the scene shooting footage, why did not they save him and his family from the wrath of those policemen? Just because to cover the story and gain TRPs?
Few years ago, a man from Patiala burnt himself in a protest in the middle of the road in front of glaring cameras of reporters who aired the footage live on TVs. Had they kept their cameras and mic away for a while and they could have saved the life of the person on whom many lives were dependant.
Stop just crying for your rights. Wake up to your moral and social duties.

Innocence

"The crystal clear love, the purity of heart, the sweetness that overpowers all ,needs a desperate call "
The world is different today.THE MODERN AGE is what its called. yet it is so devoid of the virtues like love and innocence. So many poets talk of the transient nature of beauties of earth yet no one talks of the long lost innocence which makes living beings worth calling humans. We see a three year old child being exploited by his/her own parents for the sake of money. All these daily dramas are wiping out every trace of value left amongst us.

"I wanted to be innocent,i wanted not to grow,i hate this life of misery where i find myself mean, always just wanted to be a happy carefree teen.Wound upon wound is inflicted and it never ever heals,I feel tired and somewhat lost and hate to pretend that I am a compassionate human being"

Dint the lines make u realize that you are not what you wanted to be?Or even if you think your life is perfect just listen to your heart again and it never lies.At some stage of life we would all want to be kids again ,innocent as flowers, unaware of sorrows but the time never takes a back turn.So why are we taking away the best time of those little ones just for the sake of money or name and fame?

"Guilt, guilt and this nasty feeling of guilt....Would I ever be able to come out of it?Oh! melancholy... This is the place where I was supposed to find a heavenly abode but all i find is myself burdened under this filthy guilt"

We can easily say we cant change the world alone... and its easier to say i give up.. But is there a harm in trying to change ourselves for the better lovely way of life? One would try and the group impact would be worth the try...JUST THINK ABOUT IT...

MASKS OFF,BE YOURSELF

SHOW-OFF is the key word today...Hardly we find a person who conducts himself or herself the way he/she actually is. It is all about the so called STATUS or position(may be fake as well) what matters to an indvidual these days. Gone are those days when simplicity could win hearts. The world is changing for the worse. It has become more important to be in the limelight,no matter it may be because of some wrong reasons. SHOW-BIZZ is what strikes me here.
INTROSPECTION-analysing oneself in a true and required way is very important. We as human souls have to be pure and atleast honest to ourselves. However, its all the more contrary. We expect but do not give. We want others to change but how can we expect that if we dont do it to our ownselves first? For any revolution or a considerable change we require the change in us. What can we earn with a fake reputation? Just a mere temporary fame or few words of praise, which too is fake in itself. How about being original? The best way is to establish a position anywhere you go by the means of what you are and not by what others want you to be. Moreover god has chosen us for this precious gift-LIFE. So how can we go against his will and be what we actually aren't?
Thereby Introspection is must. One should know one's innerself and be crystal clear to his her/conscience. Afterall the first and foremost key to success is being a good and a true human being.
Inorder to conform to present-day societal norms, most of us hide our real ourselves and instead project a fake identity to gain acceptance in our respective peer groups. We have become impostors of the elites and often end up trying to conform to their requisite'styles and attitudes'. However, instead of simplifying our lives, these masks have only complicated matters. A contradiction between our true self and the other self ensues within, which may create disorder in life. Hence,it is always better to be one's real self rather than worrying about others. Afterall,a person true to himself gains respect everywhere.

Media: Let's Not Believe It Blindly

We live in those times where the media is faster than the speed of light. Within few moments we get to know what happened where! Even our lives are so fast that we don’t have time to sit back and give it thought to what’s happening around us. Media heavily influences our opinions, media has got the power to create the revolutions but is the current media creating revolutions? Does anyone guarantee we are getting right and true news? These days media has merely become a puppet in the hands of gangsters and double faced powered politicians and so-called powerful citizens of the country.

Recently I was watching a Journalists’ conclave on a leading News channel of the country where all the senior and respected journalists of the country were present along with some young MPs like Sachin Pilot, Deepender Hooda and Union Minister Kumari Shelja. What they told was completely shocking. They told “During recent Lok Sabha Polls, they were approached by some of the leading newspapers and asked for Rs 50 lacs in which they’ll cover the Candidates’ whole election Campaign and favor them in the elections through their columns”, no doubt these 3 respected MPs refused to pay them to which Mr. Hooda further told that his whole election campaign are spoiled by local media and their columns published articles against him, although he won the elections.

I wish to share one more thing you which haunts me. 2-3 years ago, AAJ TAK news channel aired a video in which many Bollywood personalities were found dancing and singing in Dawood Ibrahim’s Party and this video was about 10-12 years old. Now my question is WHY this news channel did not air that video when it was recorded, WHY its telecast was delayed for 10-12 years?

My purpose of writing this article is to make the readers think over WHAT we see, hear and read. When the audience will be aware and responsible, media will also get responsible and will uncover and unhide the whole scene behind the story.

DRUG ABUSE

Many people do not understand why individuals become addicted to drugs or how drugs change the brain to foster compulsive drug abuse. They mistakenly view drug abuse and addiction as strictly a social problem and may characterize those who take drugs as morally weak. One very common belief is that drug abusers should be able to just stop taking drugs if they are only willing to change their behaviour. What people often underestimate is the complexity of drug addiction-that it is a disease that impacts the brain and because of that stopping drug abuse is just a matter of will power. Through scientific advances we now know much more about how exactly drugs work in the brain, and we also know that drug addiction can be succesfully treated to help people stop abusing and resume their productive lives......
No single factor can predict whether or not a person will become addicted to drugs. Risk for addiction is influenced by a person's biology, social environment, and age or stage of developmenT. The more risk factors an individual has,the greater is the chance that taking drugs can lead to aadiction
PREVENTION......
Drug addiction is a preventable disease. Results from NIDA-funded research have shown that prevention programs that involve the family, schools, communities, and the media are effective in reducing drug abuse. Although many events and cultural factors affect drug abuse trends, when youths percieve drug abuse as harmful, they reduce their drug taking. It is necessary, therefore to help youth and the general public to understand the risks of drug abuse and for teachers, parents and the healthcare professionals to keep sending the message that drug addiction can be prevented if a person never abuses drugs.

Tweet less,kiss more

Beyond the obvious safety issues, why does anyone want, or need, to be talking constantly on the phone or watching movies(or texting) while driving?I hate to sound so 20th century, but what's wrong with just listening to the radio? The blessed wonders of technology are just overwhelming us.We dont control them, they control us.

We've got cellphones BlackBerrys and Kindles and iPads, and we are e-mailing and text-messaging and chatting and tweeting-i used to call it twittering until i was corrected by high school kids who patiently explained to me, as if i were the village idiot, that the correct term is tweeting.Twittering-Tweeting whatver it is,it sounds like a nervous disorder.

This is all part of what i think is one of the weirder aspects of our culture;a heightened freneticism that seems to demand that we be doing, at a minimum, two or three things every single moment of every hour that we're awake. Why is multitasking considered an admirable talent? We could just as easyily think of it as a neurotic inability to concentrate for more than three seconds.

Why do we have to check our e-mails so many times a day,or keep our ears constantly attached to our cellphones? When you watch the news on the television, there are often additional stores being scrolled across the bottom of the screen, stock market results blinking on the right of the screen, and the promos for upcoming features on the left. These extras often block significant parts of the main item we'Re supposed to be watching.

Enough already with this hyperactive behaviour, this techno--tyranny and non-stop freneticism. We need to slow down and take a deep breath.

I'm not opposed to the remarkable tecnological advances of the past several years. I dont want to go back to the typewriters and carbon papers and yellowing clips from the newspaper morgue. I just want that we should use technology like any other tool.We should control it,bending it to our human purposes.

Lets put down atleast some of these gadgets and spend a little time just being ourselves. One of the essential problems of our society is that we have a tendency, amid all the craziness that surrounds us,to lose sight of what is truly human in ourselves, and that inlcludes our own individual needs-those very special, mostly non-material that would fulfil us,give meaning to our lives, enlarge us,and enable us to more easily embrace those around us.

We need to reduce the speed limit of our lives. We need to savour the trip.Leave the cellphones at home every once in a while.Try kissing more and tweeting less .And stop talking so much.

Listen.

Other people have something to say, too. And when they dont, that glorious silence that you hear will have more to say to you than you ever imagined. That is when you will begin to hear your song.Thats when your best talks take hold, and you become really you.

Why Are Girls Targetted & Harassed?

Guru Nanak preached," SO KYO MANDA AAKHIYE JIIT JAMME RAAJAAN" which means why say bad things about any woman which gives birth to the great souls.
But it seems we are forgetting the great sayings of great soul Dhan Guru Nanak. Girls are being tortured mentally and physically as well, as if whole world is after their life. Spreading phone numbers, sending dirty mails, giving hoax calls to girls by guys show cheap and third class mentallity of so called modern world. Self-proclaimed cool guys take advantage of the girl's shyness and make fun of girl's dignity. How will they feel if the same happens to their mothers and sisters? Sounds Nasty..no? Just giving a thought about it gives goosebumps, imagine the hell a girl goes through. Who has given us this right to harass girls?
There is a great need for girls to become aware of the LAW which is always with them, they can sue the offenders too, they just need to get a more bolder so that no one can take advantage of their innocence. Lets become More Sensible and Responsible.

Stop Inflation, Not India!

Opposition parties called for Nation-wide Bandh as a protest against INFLATION. But Will such Bandhs and Protests decrease the inflation? Will stopping the transportation and showing GUNDAGARDI on the roads reduce the Inflation? Its the narrow thinking of the Opposition which is becoming the hurdle in the Indian Road to Development. Such single day bandh tune upto the loss of thousand of crores and push India 2-3 years back. Though Govt has been unable to tackle the inflation, but we can't disagree on the point that Govt is pushing hard to tackle inflation and we should keep trust in the Govt. How can we forget the Govt's Efforts when the inflation dropped upto 0.78% from whopping 16% during its Last Term at the centre?
Instead of these bandhs, protests should be against Hoarding, black marketing, futures trading of daily use commodities which are the real causes of Inflation. Lets not work against the Nation, lets work for the Nation. I request all of you to restrain from these bandhs and form a firm opinion against them.
JAI HIND..!!

Should ICC go the FIFA way?

The readers of the blog might be wondering why the title of every post is a question!! This is because the blogger seeks the opinion of his readers. So I urge every reader to kindly post their valuable and geniune comments. Now coming over to the topic.

FIFA World Cup'10 is running as a super hit show similar to its predecessor editions. Fans going all crazy with their loud VEVUZELAS, their roar is so loud that even players might be having some problem with hearing the referee's whistle I guess. But why are the cheers back home not loud enough? We do celebrate our wins in the World Cup matches, yet, definitely not in this manner. Most cricket playing nations can never match the euphoria of a soccer playing nation. What's the difference?!!

Soccer is mainly a club-oriented sport played in competitive leagues, countries dont play against each other that often and hence whenever they do, fans get involved. Cricket is predominatingly a country versus country sport and in order to keep the moolah going we have abused it to the extent that it doesn't hold the same charm. While the World Cup is still coveted, still it lacks the novelty of its soccer counterpart. I'm not suggesting more leagues like the IPL because the paucity of good-cricket playing nations is a limitation. What's the next best thing? Perhaps, reducing the number of matches or getting rid of meaningless tournaments.

It won't be a bad idea to take a leaf out of FIFA's book. The ICC has nearly nine months to figure out a plan so that the 2011 World Cup doesn't flop like the 2007 edition.

Are Indian Lives Cheaper?

The recent Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill has costed the British Petroleum Inc. a whopping sum of $20b. That is US Govt. has imposed this sum as a COMPENSATION to BP which could even rise to $70b according to the sources. But if we switch our attention to another Man-Made Disaster i.e. Bhopal Gas Tragedy, we come to know that the responsible company Union Carbide Ltd. had only settled for meager $470m for over 5 lacs victims. At that time US Govt even refused to extradicate the main accused Warren Anderson to India. Why these dual standards? Are Indian lives cheap? Are Indians not humans?
A small terrorist attack on US rattles the US so much that It destroys the whole suspect countries all together. We all know under what conditions nations like Iraq and Afghanistan are reeling. But why US tried to become mediator and pacifier when business capital of India, Mumbai was attacked and we lost over 200 countrymen and lost Hundreds of millions of business altogether. Why these dual standards? I again raise the question ARE INDIAN LIVES CHEAPER?

Let Us Awake To The Real Challenges

Whatever comes out of the pen of an author has a reason behind it. And the reason why I am publishing this post is as quoted: While I was going through various pages of a Social Networking Site, I engaged into a serious COMMUNAL discussion with SIKH GENTLEMEN. Let me tell you here the topic of discussion 1984 RIOTs and the events that followed later. I was shocked to see how well-versed and aware people were so radical and fundamentalist. As expected I had to face their wrath but I dont accuse them for anything because they just know what they were told by others. Why do we not want to come out of our ugly past and make our thinking more liberal and progressive. This communal hatred wont take us anywhere instead it will drag us away from the path of harmony, peace and progress. We do realise the potential threats across borders from Pakistan and China but what about these internal threats which may someday take the shape of a civil war? I know Civil War is a bit exaggeration of the whole thing but History suggests these issues often turn into big conflicts. Why dont we realise that common man like you and me want to live in harmony? Politicians make you and me fight and stupid us play into their hands. More stupid of us that we dont realise these things even after 25 years.

What more to come?

Chronology of Events:

2nd/3rd Dec 1984: Bhopal Gas Disaster

7th Dec 1984: Warren Anderson Let go with honour

1989: Govt settled compensation money at $470m instead of $3b.

1996: Charges reduced against the Culprits

Today: Wounds still afresh...

25 years on..Bhopal Gas victims still waiting for the justice. Justice whether in the form of Monetary compensation or bigger sentences to the culprits. What I have witnessed and observed in past few days is that a Poor Public has no guardian and when it comes to a fight between Poor Public and Conglomerates, the whole political system comes to the rescue of the rich betraying the trust of those before whom they had begged for Votes. Anyways. There is an old phrase JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED. This is what has happened to the victims of one of the biggest man made disaster of 20th Century. Why to blame Anderson or Dow Chemicals for this? Please dont get me wrong here, I'm not supporting any of them rather pointing out the loop-holes of our system.

In 1989, Govt of India settled for meager $470m compensation for about 55m victims although the original compensation amount was $3b. How and why did we settle 7-8 times less than the amount? I want to stress upon this thing here that money isnt what those victims need. Its a small help they needed to rebuild their lives.

Justice Ahmedi, the then CJI, reduced the charges against the culprits and later became the chairman of the Bhopal Memorial Hospital. Ironically, in this hospital new medicines were tested on the patients most of whom were the gas leak victims. How much has been played with the sentiments of Bhopal people. Please stop toying with them.

Who are the REAL CULPRITS?

It's been 25 and half years that Bhopal Gas Tragedy victims await for the justice and Compensation. After 25 years, they got neither Justice nor Compensation. They just got betrayal. Yes, betrayal..that too from their own SEWAKS. SEWAKS, whom they had sent to the Parliament and Vidhan Sabhas, sold their lives to their killers..dont know for what all gainS? Why did they allow Warren Anderson to leave the country when he was booked under Non-bailable charges i.e. Act 304 of IPC and many more. Why was he let go with honorary treatment under the knowledge of then PM and CM of the state? Why was he carried to the airport in DM's official car whose driver was then SP of Bhopal? Why did Govt toy with the sentiments of Indians? Is Warren Anderson the Real culprit? Or our own countrymen??? Whom to trust then? The Representatives, who were entrusted to ensure the justice for their people, instead of bringing compensation for them made a clean way for Anderson to get out of the country with SAFETY and HONOUR. What to expect of these leaders? I beg your pardon for my words... Our leaders have become the Pimp of the mother-soil and fellow countrymen.
